Seed4Soft invests in Cozycloud

Innovacom and Seed4Soft fund the development of Cozy Cloud, a breakthrough solution for bringing your personal data back in house

The innovation capital firm Innovacom and the entrepreneur investor club Seed4Soft have put in 800,000 euros in the first funding round of Cozy Cloud, a young innovative company offering a breakthrough solution that lets individuals manage their personal data in complete independence.

Founded in late 2012, Cozy Cloud is transforming how individuals manage personal data. Cozy Cloud has built an operating system with an application development platform that lets anyone administer their own server, holding their personal digital information. This advance gives users complete autonomy, freeing them from having to turn systematically to Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and the rest.

From their own server, users can process, synchronise and host data coming both from their mobile devices and from their connected objects.

The 1980s saw the move from the "computer" to the "personal computer". Cozy Cloud is preparing the move from the "cloud" to the "personal cloud".

A breakthrough internet technology that lets you create your own "personal cloud", the Cozy server built by Cozy Cloud brings four major services:

• It decentralises the web and allows you to internalise and reclaim your personal data online. Users keep full control over the ownership of their data by storing it on their own server, and so enjoy greater protection and confidentiality.
• It opens up full interoperability between data, online services and connected objects, all able to interact with one another. It brings flexible management, perfect integration and total synchronisation across every device used: computers, tablets, smartphones, connected objects, and for every type of information, whether calendar, contacts, photos, home automation, finance or health. It frees you from the silo organisation of the web, which currently partitions data by type of service and application and requires as many passwords.
• It is modular and adaptable to users' needs. Its open source structure lets users create their own applications or choose among those on offer, and build an architecture tailored to their needs.
• It is simple to use and accessible to the uninitiated, designed for mainstream use in re-personalising the cloud. It is intuitive in use.

Cozy Cloud's innovation is entering a testing phase with large consumer distribution accounts and with partners including Orange, La Poste, Alcatel-Lucent, the Mozilla Foundation and OVH.COM.

The funds raised from Innovacom and Seed4Soft will make it possible to strengthen the team, currently six people all of them engineers, to clear the last stages of technical development and to launch the commercial offering by the end of 2014. The two well-known investors will also bring their experience and their network to accelerate Cozy Cloud's rise in this technology field with very strong growth potential, on a global market.
